Okay, so a lot has gone on in the last few days. I don't know if I even wrote about how I'm in West Palm Beach right now with Audrey, visiting our friend Devon. We've been here since Monday, though, and we're leaving tomorrow. Mostly we've just been hanging out, going to the beach, stuff like that. However, Thursday night we went to a friend of his house to play poker. Well, we all three ended up having a ton to drink, with me and Devon perhaps drinking the most of anyone there (though Dev had way more than even I did). Well, I ended up having to take care of Dev while he threw up in the bathroom (can anyone say graduation de ja vu?). Except that I was extremely wasted myself. Eventually I got incredibly tired and gave it a break, letting other people take care of him. And as we were getting in cars for Dev's friends to drive us home, I threw up in the sink and felt a little better. We got home, snuck inside the house, and I fell asleep.
Friday morning Dan called my cell and I talked to him even though I kept feeling like I was going to throw up. It was weird, at first I thought it was my stomach being upset that was making me feeling like I was going to vomit, and then I realized that it was just that my throat was really tight. And sometimes I'd have an extra like...small spasm that would make me think I was going to throw up. I think I was actually still a little drunk. At that point it hadn't been that long, and even though there wasn't anything left in my stomach, I think it's quite possible that there was still a lot of alcohol in my blood.
Anyway, so I talked to Dan for a while, and then went inside and fell asleep. I got up again and tried to eat something, except that I was exhausted and every time I moved my head--and especially when I tried to stand up and walk around--I either felt like I was going to throw up, or pass out. I think I came close a couple of times to passing out; I know I suddenly looked really pale at least once. While I was eating my piece of butter and bread and trying to drink a Mountain Dew (I started with Canada Dry, which is really what you should have when your stomach is unsettled, but it was flat, and the only other carbonated thing to drink was MD, which I honestly really hate, but oh well), Audrey came out and talked to me. I learned that she had thrown up four times earlier in the morning, while I was still asleep. So we had all thrown up. And I explained to her that I felt like I still needed to throw up, but couldn't figure out how to.
And then I felt something, went to the bathroom, and FINALLY threw up. Like at 1100 or 1200. Almost nothing came out, just some clear stuff and Mountain Dew trails (which, let me tell you, burns like a motherfucker coming up), and then I dry heaved a few times, which hurt like it always does. But let me tell you, I instantly felt sooo much better.
I finished my bread and butter, had some water, and suddenly felt completely exhausted, and so I fell asleep for several more hours, until 1400, when they woke me up and we began to make plans. I had slept weird on the couch, and my neck was KILLING me, which had actually given me a really bad headache, which promised to ruin my time with them if we did anything.
We ended up going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I took some headache medicine and stretched out my neck on the way there and ended up feeling fine, thank God. The movie was...incredible. I'm honestly obsessed with it now, and everyone needs to go see them. I'll do a proper post on it later.
The movie ended after 2300 and we went to some girl's birthday party, but didn't stay for very long because we wanted to go to the beach and we were all pretty tired. So we drove out to the beach and walked for a while. We were actually looking for sea turtles, which Dev had seen several times before. We saw several sets of tracks coming out of the water, but all of them went back into the water.
Finally we found one. She was at the top of the beach, and when we first came upon her, she was still laying her eggs. There wasn't a lot of movement, and we didn't take any pictures, afraid that the flashes would disturb her, pull her out of her egg-laying trance. Then she began to kick up sand. Man it was flying! It was sooooo COOL. While we waited for her to begin heading down to the water, Audrey took some pictures of us. She's really gotten into taking pictures of people. Then the turtle started moving. Once she got out of the nest, she moved quickly. Damn she was huge! I did get to touch her shell though, which was really cool because when you touch it, you can see this phosphorescent...stuff. Maybe a protective layer or something. We took pictures as quickly as we could before she got lost in the waves.
On the way back, Audrey made us stop and had me and Devon pose for pictures which have turned out really well. I've set up a myspace (www.myspace.com/cheyenner) so the three of us can keep in contact. I'm also going to put my pictures there, though, so I'll let you know when they get on there. There are already a few pictures on there if you want to see what I look like.
Anyway, the night turned out really well considering the day sucked so much. Since I first woke up yesterday, though, my stomach hasn't been completely steady, no matter what. I'm really hoping it won't last for much longer, though. And I can forget about thinking about alcohol; everytime I think about it I feel even more queasy. I don't think I'm going to be drinking for a long time. I'm sure Dan is fine with that. And honestly, so am I.
